A Deal-Ready App for a Regional Retail Giant
Nesto Group is a leading retail chain operating across multiple countries, known for its large network of hypermarkets and supermarkets. With frequent promotions varying by location, the organization required a unified digital platform to streamline how offers are presented and accessed.
Nesto’s promotional strategy relied heavily on physical flyers and store specific campaigns. Customers often found it difficult to locate relevant offers based on their region, especially when multiple stores operated under different promotional cycles.
At the same time, the business lacked a structured way to measure how effective their offline campaigns were. QR codes were being used, but without deeper tracking capabilities, there was limited insight into customer behavior, campaign reach, or engagement sources.
The absence of a centralized system also made it challenging to manage multiple countries and regions efficiently from a single backend.
The solution was designed with a strong focus on accessibility, performance, and centralized control. The platform allows users to begin by selecting their country and region, ensuring that the content they see is immediately relevant to their location.
Once inside, users are guided through a streamlined browsing experience where they can view ongoing promotions, explore different sections, and access detailed offer flyers. These flyers are presented in a format that is easy to view, download, and share, ensuring usability both inside stores and at home.
A key part of the approach was to connect offline and online experiences. QR codes placed in physical store environments act as entry points into the platform, allowing customers to instantly access relevant offers through a simple scan.
The platform was developed using React and Laravel, ensuring a balance between a responsive user interface and a stable backend system. Hosting on AWS provided the scalability required to support multiple regions and high user traffic.
The architecture was designed to support a single backend managing multiple stores across different locations. This unified approach allows administrators to control regions, stores, and promotional content efficiently without duplication of effort.
Special attention was given to performance. The application is optimized for quick loading, smooth navigation, and efficient handling of promotional flyers, ensuring a consistent experience across mobile and desktop devices.
To address the limitation in campaign measurement, the QR system was significantly enhanced. Instead of a single QR code per destination, the system now allows multiple QR codes to point to the same page while carrying different tracking identifiers.
Each QR interaction contributes to a measurable data point, allowing the business to understand where users are coming from and which campaigns are performing better. This improvement transformed QR codes from simple access tools into measurable marketing assets.
Administrators can generate, manage, and monitor these codes through a centralized interface, ensuring consistency and control across all campaigns.
The platform was built with a mobile first mindset, recognizing that most users access offers through their smartphones, especially when scanning QR codes in stores.
Navigation is intuitive, and transitions between pages are smooth. Users can quickly move from selecting their location to browsing offers and opening detailed flyers without delays. The experience remains consistent whether the user accesses the platform from a QR scan or directly through the website.
